15 years in, what do we notice?

We’ve been working in Bangladesh for approximately 15 years now, and we have some pretty fabulous reflections!

Our training college in Bangladesh has been running for 15 years and at this point it might be worth pausing and reflecting on the trajectory of the project. 

• Over 500 been trained and are now working.

• The program is largely run by local women, who are leaders to be admired!

• Our Australian team members continue to support and encourage, but their involvement is decreasing and is less ‘on the ground’, as the program becomes more self-sustaining. 

• We aim to set a respectful tone through example and conversation that ‘west is not necessarily best’. It’s important to us that we get these cultural pieces as right as we can.

• The Jennifer Spa Parlour (salon) is designed to provide income for the Mymensingh Hair and Beauty Training College, thus freeing up donor funds for other empowering projects.

• Our program leaders have great vision for what’s next - watch this space!
